  • Overview

    The Materials Handler will be responsible for delivering and replenishing medical and other supplies in user areas. Function as a resource to nursing personnel and others for the following: par leveling of medical supplies, restocking the distribution area in an organized manner, maintain a safe and orderly work environment and ensure that all items that are issued out of the distribution area are entered into the materials management system. Will also compile supplies as indicated by the pick list and fill supplemental supply requests.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Inventory, deliver, and replenish user areas up to the established par level
    • Assure that supplies are restocked in the user areas in an organized manner   
    • Compile supplies as indicated by the pick list             
    • Fill supplemental supply requests                               
    • Function as a resource for nursing and other users     
    • Restock patient/resident care areas with clean linen and deliver personal clothing
    • Collect soiled linen when required                                          
    • Restock the distribution area in an organize manner
    • Keep the Manager aware of any and all supply-related issues
    • Assure that all necessary information pertaining to items issued is entered in to materials management resource management system
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma
    • Previous warehouse and receiving experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
    • At least one year of experience with inventory management concepts and inventory management systems
    • Must be customer service oriented.
    • Must also be very organized and deadline driven. 

    Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and push or pull weighted items with the assistance of a manual pallet jack.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS

    • Potential for injury exists from improperly lifting or moving supplies or other objects.  Must follow proper lifting, pushing, and pulling techniques.
    • Must be able to work in a cold or hot environment.
