  • Overview

    Responsible for the day to day operations of the Occupational Health program on the Roslindale and Dedham Campuses. Responsible for managing first aid, coordinating TST’s and immunization, conducting pre placement screening, facilitating workers compensation plan and oversight in collaboration with the NP, communicating necessary updates to supervising managers and inputting of employee health data into computerized database.


    Core Functions:


    Clinical Management, Triage, Treatment

    • Receive, evaluate and respond appropriately to employees visiting the Occupational Health Department with work related and non-work related injuries, complaints and/or requests for assistance.


    • Administer first aid to injured employees in accordance within scope of practice.
    • Arrange transportation for employees requiring additional medical treatment or hospital services.
    • Administer necessary medications to alleviate various complaints.Pre Employment Screening
    • Initiate post job offer health history of potential employees and report to Human Resources.
    • Arrange for appropriate testing and training if needed.
    • Advise Human Resources of suitability of candidate as necessary.

    Work Related Injuries

    • Oversee and manage worker’s compensation cases.
      • Review incident reports of work incurred injuries and follow up to determine employee’s progress.
    • Work with employees, managers and primary care providers, including facility providing health services, individuals physician, specialists, etc., to facilitate the employees return to work in the most appropriate time frame and to facilitate job accommodation where required.
    • Attend workers compensation committee meetings and provides current data and reports required for trending and outcome measurements.
    • Initiate systems and processes needed to improve worker’s compensation program.


    Injury Prevention
    • May bean active member of the Safety committee. Provides education to employees as appropriate to minimize work injury. Participates in Performance improvement to identify trends/patterns and facilitate process/systems to minimize workplace injury.
    • Investigate cumulative trauma complaints and evaluate workstations ergonomically before an injury occurs and refers to PT/Occupational Therapy if necessary for an ergonomic evaluation.. Follow all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandates in this regard.
    • Prepare and post the OSHA Form 300 by Feb 1st. The form shall remain posted until April 30th or as per OSHA standard.Infection Control


    • Initiate and coordinate various prophylactic programs for prevention or control of infectious diseases.
    • Function as a member of the Infection Control Committee and collaborates with IC Program Manager.
    • Provide employee oversight during infectious outbreaks and maintain employee records.
    • In collaboration with Infection Control, conduct flu vaccine campaign each year.
    • Participate in the education of staff concerning infection control policies and procedures.
    • Coordinates post-exposure prophylaxis.
    • Provide blood-borne pathogen education at pre-employment health interview .
    • Coordinate TST testing and follow-up.


    • Exemplify professionalism and exhibit values which contribute to achievement of the mission of the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center.
    • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
    • Perform other related duties as directed or as responsibilities dictate.




        • Current Massachusetts license as a registered nurse or LPN.
        • Computer literacy required.
        • Three to five years of nursing experience. Occupational Health Certification ( preferred)
