Responsibilities

  • Clean dishes, pots and pans, glassware and silverware by hand or machine
  • Receives tableware from Dining and Health Care, or stacks tableware on a carrier for transporting to dish washing room
  • Transports cleaned and dried tableware to proper places in dining room and kitchen areas
  • Cleans working areas, steam tables, refrigerators and kitchen equipment
  • Removes garbage from kitchen areas, sweeps and mops floors thoroughly at end of shift, follows daily sanitation cleaning schedule
  • Secures kitchen before leaving by turning off all lights and locking all doors
  • Discards broken and chipped glassware after showing items to be discarded to the Steward supervisor immediately upon noticing any damage to the tableware
  • Having sufficient quantities of cleaned tableware in time to meet meal schedules, and insure that dining room/floors and kitchen surroundings are clean
  • Cooperates and coordinates work activities with co-workers to ensure a smooth run department
  • Performs any extra job duties or special projects as assigned by the Steward supervisor

Required Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate verbally
  • Able to perform simple, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis
  • Follow uniform and personal hygiene policies

 

 

 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Standing for long periods of time, walking short distances
  • Lifting objects up to 50 lbs, repetitive stooping, twisting and reaching.
  • Works in a clean, well lighted and ventilated environment
  • Possible work hazards include: cuts, burns, slips and falls
  • Variable exposure to hot and cold.
