  • Overview

A two-year postdoctoral fellowship is open at the Hebrew SeniorLife Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research (HSL IFAR), within its Interventional Studies in Aging Center. The fellow will have the opportunity to conduct nutritional interventions aimed at preventing cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease under the supervision and guidance of Harvard Medical School faculty. MD, PhD or equivalent degree required.

    Responsibilities

    • The post-doctoral fellow will conduct clinical nutrition trials in older adults with and without cognitive impairment with particular emphasis on the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics of diet and nutrition interventions in aging.
    • He/she will explore molecular biomarkers (i.e., genetic, epigenetic and nutritional metabolomics) needed to capture mechanistic insights into how nutrition influences human (neuro) biology and cognition. The fellow will also utilize available datasets with such measures to better refine research questions, clinical trial design and generate publications.
    • The fellow will interact with a multi-disciplinary group of scientists and support staff required to design, implement, and successfully execute clinical trials.
    • The fellow may take advantage of other training and coursework available through the Harvard Medical School and its teaching affiliates (e.g., Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Mass General Hospital, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health) or training grants.
    • The fellow will be involved in preparing manuscripts for publication and presentations for scientific meetings.
    • This an ideal opportunity to gain experience in nutrition, cognitive aging and Alzheimer disease research under the mentorship of successful investigators with broad experience and international recognition in nutrition and dementia.
