Responsibilities

  • Maintains cleanliness of households and public areas. Efficiently performs cleaning techniques based on industry standards, using equipment and supplies as trained.  The following list provides examples of specific cleaning tasks, but is not necessarily a complete list of areas to be cleaned:
  • Daily floor care: buff, strip, wax floors; shampoo carpet
  • Other daily cleaning: windows, window treatments, appliances, porches
  • Clean public restrooms, corridors, and staff areas.
  • Replenish hand soap, sanitizer, and paper supplies for dispensers.
  • Remove sharps containers and transport to hazardous cage on soiled dock.
  • Empties trash and linen chutes, and transports to soiled docks. Empties trash containers into trash compactor, and stores soiled linens in staging area.
  • Sets up events with equipment such as tables, chairs, furniture, props, and other items as needed.
  • Locates equipment
  • Transports all items required to the event location
  • Upon event completion, removes equipment and returns to storage locations
  • Transports paper, plastic, and cleaning chemicals from loading dock to stock room and shelf space.
  • Recognize and report to Team Lead or Director of Department any maintenance or safety issue with floor care equipment. Remove item from use, and transport broken equipment to housekeeping/engineering office and tag equipment with location of origin.
  • Respond to emergencies, special needs and spills as required or directed. Report safety issues or problems to Director or Team Lead if unable to take action.
  • Assists other associates as necessary or directed.
  • Offers suggestions and solutions that may improve systems and care.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident, patient, and household information.
  • Wears uniform appropriately and displays identification badge as required.
  • Participates in all department training for current Housekeeping practices, techniques and new equipment/chemical use.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • A minimum of 6 months of floor/carpet care experience using rotary buffer and extracting machine preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate using the English language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Requires bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to chemicals on a constant basis requiring special clothing (PPE), or safety equipment.
  • Exposure to medical waste and occasionally unsanitary conditions, unpleasant odors, and hazardous (concentrated) chemicals.
  • Some work performed inside; well ventilated and lighted areas. Some work performed outside in extreme weather conditions.
