    Under the direction of the Vice President for Quality and Regulatory Affairs, the Risk Manager collaborates to enhance the delivery of a high risk patient population care services along the continuum of care. Utizing a pateitn centered approach, s/he will directly interface with physicans, health care teams, patients and their caregivers in managing their care. The Risk Manager meets the patient's needs efficiently and expeditiously by continuouslyworking to improve the patients experience, helping to ensure high quality patient care and reducing cost. Through broad knowledge of clinical care and systems management, the Risk Manager evaluates, predicts, and facilitates the trajectory of patient/resident care. The Risk Manager will also provide insight and information about systemic organization vulnerabilities and analyzes the human , organziation, and systems factors which contribute to adverse events.

    • Investigates all accidents, incidents, and offense cases; determines cause of occurrences and proposes action to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Manages the patient complaint process and database in conjunction with management staff.
    • Routinely inspects all hospital areas in order to ensure compliance with safety and security standards promulgated by OSHA, NFPA, and other agencies.
    • Manages the collection and analysis of data an all hazards, safe practices, and programs required by Department of Public Health.
    • Maintains risk management data base for trending occurrences, variances data and complaints/concerns.
    • Monitors medical/legal issues, oversees investigation of all incidents and claims. Counsels/advises personnel and medical staff in sensitive situations with regard to actual or potential claims. Coordinates legal defense counsel and remains active in the discovery process.
    • Counsels/advises personnel and medical staff in sensitive situations with regard to actual or potential claims. Coordinates legal defense counsel in conjunction with hospital attorney and remains active in the discovery process in association with onsite legal counsel.
    • Provides loss control by managing the Claims Process to resolution, initiating reviews and resolution of critical incidents, and work with hospital attorney on internal litigation process.
    • Provides input in the planning, implementing and maintaining of a quality patient care delivery system and hospital wide safety programs.
    • Reviews and evaluates processes that are affected by medical safety and regulatory issues. Identifies problems, makes recommendations for improvement, and monitors services.
    • Participates in safety management, disaster preparation, employee health, and performance improvement.






    • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred. RN preferred
    • CPHRM Preferred.




    • Minimum 3 to 5 years experience, including a minimum of 2-3 years experience in acute care and/or LTACH, Long Term Care environment.
