  • Overview

    The Digital Content Specialist will develop written and visual content for Hebrew SeniorLife’s marketing and communication’s digital publications and social media to build awareness and promote the reputation of the Hebrew SeniorLife brand, its health care offerings and senior living communities, research and teaching programs, and philanthropic initiatives. They will collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to align content with branding, media relations, lead generation and fundraising campaigns, email marketing, HSL web sites and blogs. The ideal candidate will be creative, enthusiastic, motivated, and self-directed, with excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills. 

    Responsibilities

    • Contribute content for digital platforms (social media, blog, website, e-newsletters etc.) as part of HSL’s integrated brand and marketing tactical mix
    • Execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification
    • Cultivate internal sources across Hebrew SeniorLife’s many sites, service lines and departments who can help identify compelling stories about our work that would be of interest to professionals, potential residents and patients, their family members and others
    • Follow up on these story ideas to generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, photos, images, video) across relevant channels
    • Moderate all user-generated content in line with the moderation policy for each channel
    • Provide front-line response to social media issues created by employees, residents or family members. Monitor for isssues, create recommended response plan, and work with Senior Strategist for Communications and Media and Chief Communications Officer to execute response.
    • Create editorial calendars and syndication schedules
    • Continuously improve outcomes by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
    • Collaborate with the communications, marketing, development communications and the digital teams to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions
    • Write, edit and proofread editorial and promotional content, maintaining editorial standards, including consistent style and voice
    • Correct and size images; maintain design standards per brand guidelines 
    • Track monthly digital marketing metrics and distill key performance indicators for management 
    • Partner with the Digital Fundraising Specialist to promote philanthropy and integrate the social media strategy with fundraising goals and campaigns
    • Act as administrator for HSL’s digital asset management platform, including training staff on usage and ensuring that standards are adhered to

    Qualifications

    • 2 years working experience in social media marketing or as a digital media specialist
    • Proven familiarity with the business applications of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
    • Familiarity with one or more leading email marketing platforms
    • Track record of writing for digital media, including but not limited to web copy, blog posts, and social media posts
    • Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret the results and take action to increase effectiveness of social media campaigns
    • Strong story teller. Demonstrate ability to identify compelling stories and then effectively tell those stories through written word, photographs and video.
    • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented  with good multitasking and organizational ability
    • Nonprofit experience preferred
    • BA/BS in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations
