  • Overview

    This person will serve dual roles for Aging Brain Center and the SAGES Study, as a programmer-analyst with Core C (Biostatistics Core) and as a research associate for Core B (Field Core). For Core C: Major role with data management, programming, and cleaning data. Analyzes and interprets data from various sources using standard statistical analysis software. Prepares reports, charts, and tables summarizing data and analyses. For Core B: Functions as a liaison to the field team, attends meetings of both Cores B and C, addresses cross-core issues, and prepares submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience and specialized training or experience in database programming and analysis. Maintains expertise in statistical and analysis methods. Works under immediate supervision of a manager or senior analyst.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborative functions
      o generate statistical reports for consistency, data quality and data integrity
      o prepare locked/frozen data set and documentation with data dictionary
      o serves as liaison to field team, attending meetings and providing reports and feedback as needed.
      o supports field team with IRB submissions, ad hoc reports, data documentation, and other tasks as requested
      o assist investigators with development and refinement of data collection instruments
      o works with field staff to ensure accuracy and completeness, and correct errors in data.
      o write tracking programs and data cleaning queries
      o develop, implement and maintain project-specific databases and back-ups
      o build and freeze master file for investigators
      o develop variable definition sheets and other study documentation working with senior analysts and investigators

    • Analysis and Reporting Functions
      o generate statistical reports for consistency, data quality and data integrity
      o prepare tables summarizing descriptive statistics and analyses
      o prepare graphics summarizing descriptive statistics and analyses
      o complete analyses as directed by investigator or supervisor
      o prepare written description of samples/populations
      o draft sections of manuscripts (sample description, methods, analytic approach, results)
    • Statistical and Programming Functions
      o proficiency in SAS, STATA, R or other statistical software
      o familiarity with RedCap database
    • Professional and Management Functions
      o updated knowledge in statistical and methodological concepts and techniques

    Qualifications

    A bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or social science related field, and 0-2 years of experience in a related field. Requires proficiency using standard statistical software (e.g., SAS, STATA, R) to write programs to perform statistical analyses and prepare graphical displays of data. Outstanding communication skills required, both written and verbal; ability to integrate well with study teams.
