Overview

To safely prepare ingredients required for food service from a sanitary environment. Responsibilities

  • Prepares side items and special requests for tray line
  • Responsible for compliance with industry food safety standards.
  • Assists in all aspects of food preparation and presentation as needed.
  • Assists in control of inventory and supplies.
  • Responsible for safety in the kitchen environment. Communicates effectively with all staff.
  • Ensures that all frozen foods are pulled and thawed according to schedule in order to ensure their wholesomeness. Ensures that all food in the walk in refrigerators and freezers is covered, labeled and dated.
  • May fill in as cold production as needed.
  • Properly uses, cleans, maintains, and stores equipment.
  • Ensures that all work areas, storage areas, utensils and equipment are cleaned, sanitized and maintained in an orderly fashion according to the latest regulatory (state, federal, Kosher and local) requirements.
  • Ensures that the temperature log system is maintained and followed up upon if results exceed boundaries.
  • Assists in the implementation of an ongoing sanitation system.
  • Adheres to pertinent safety rules, uniform code, jewelry policy, personal hygiene policy and state and federal regulations.
  • Contributes to the efficient and productive operation of the department.

  • Communicates with supervisor as to any problems relating to missing or defective equipment.
  • Attends regular meetings as assigned.

  • Maintain proper food handling, storage and HACCP procedures.
  • Practice proper sanitation techniques at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years prep cook experience
  • Basic computer skills required to access emails and other online resources.
  • Must be professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented individual. Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and able to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment with a sense of humor. 
  • Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
  • Maintains documentation in accordance with professional standards and guidelines (if applicable).

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pull 50 pounds
  • Must be able to push 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Frequent bending is involved
  • Exposure to extreme cold/heat
