    Staff Accountant - Full time

    (based at NewBridge on the Charles /Dedham with some travel to Orchard Cove/Canton)


    The Staff Accountant is a key position within the fiscal office who reports to the Director of Finance. The Staff Accountant processes the business transactions of the organization and maintains and controls general ledger accounts, including analytical work and thorough review of financial records. Accounting practices must be in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in compliance with all Federal and State laws and regulations, including H.I.P.A.A. All internal controls must be followed and, when necessary, suggested improvements must be presented to the department leadership.


      • Responsible for all aspects of general ledger data entry, reconciliation and reporting including:
        • Working with managers to record employee time correctly, submission of data to the payroll dept for processing, recording of payroll journal entries and reconciliation of salary expenses.
        • Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and maintenance of a daily cash receipts log.
        • Process expense allocations, monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, adjusting and reclassification journal entries.
        • Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports for programs and departments.
        • Prepare general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, employer’s benefit costs, accruals and prepaid expenses.
        • Assist in the maintenance of statistical data and preparation of statistical reports
        • Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements, budget performance, and various ad hoc reports.
      • Prepare checks for staff recognition and scholarship fund distributions
      • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to managers
      • Assist in preparing reports and account analyses in connection with the year-end audit.
      • Assist with the implementation and testing of financial software systems and be adaptable to learning new software systems.
      • Assist other departments with questions and accounting issues and communicate effectively with non-accounting personnel.
      • Organize and maintain fiscal record archives.
      • Maintain fiscal supplies inventory and order supplies as needed
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting from a fully accredited college or equivalent experience
    • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices and procedures
    • Demonstrated competence in pertinent computer applications and systems
    • Ability to communicate effectively with accounting and non-accounting staff and with outside business related entities, as responsibilities require.
