Position Summary:
Our new innovative respite care program, funded by the Alzheimer’s Association grant, is seeking dedicated pre-med or healthcare-focused students to join our team as Home Health Aides. In this role, you will receive training and certification as a Home Health Aide, and provide high-quality respite care to individuals with dementia, offering support and relief to their families and caregivers. The program is designed to provide compassionate, in-home care for individuals with dementia while offering valuable clinical experience for pre-med and healthcare-focused students. As a Home Health Aide, you will play a crucial role in supporting families and gaining hands-on experience that will prepare you for a future in healthcare.
Responsibilities:
• Currently enrolled in their senior year of college with a focus on pre-medical studies; or graduated from college with a pre-med background and are currently working or pursuing graduate studies.
• Strong interest in gaining hands-on experience in patient care and working with dementia patients
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to care
• Ability to work independently and adapt to different care environments
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to patient homes
• Completion of free online training of Homemaker offered by Personal and Home Care Aide State Training (60 hour module)
