Overview

Repair, adjust and replace the entire plumbing system, including waste-vent-water piping, valves and the various fixtures and equipment served by this system that would normally be covered by the state plumbing code and all other related plumbing parts/systems. Collaborate with outside utilities on premises; sewer and storm drain gas and water.

Responsibilities

 Respond to emergency calls
 Work from written and electronic requisitions, or verbal instructions
 Work with inspectors from State’s Water and Sewer Department, and the Plumbing Inspector
 Perform jobs assigned by the Director of Engineering/Supervisor
 Perform visual inspections for the detection of abnormal operation and correction of deficiencies
 Repair or replace defective plumbing equipment including but not limited to:

• Nautral Gas
• Medical gases, e.g., oxygen, air and vacuum
• Heating systems including traps, valves, controls, piping and various types of heating equipment
• Outside utilities (on premises) sewer and storm drains, gas, water
• Various pumps
• Hot and cold water tanks and systems
• Drain cleaning
• Steam piping
• Water booster systems
• Fire protection
• Piping for machinery
• Meter testing with Boston Water & Sewer
• Back Flow testing with Boston Water & Sewer

 Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program throughout the facility complex

 Maintain a professional appearance at all times
 Keep a clean, safe work area
 Maintain an inventory and order stock as approved by the Director of Engineering
 Design and install various new work and remodeling projects
 Coordinate various functions of outside vendors and contractors
 Coordinate shutdown of the various plumbing systems with all necessary staff
 Work according to plumbing codes
 Conserve resources and material
 Work within OSHA Safety Standards
 Must be available for snow removal as needed
 Assist in all other areas as needed
 Maintain the confidentiality and security of all facility and patient related information (HIPPA)
 Maintain cleanliness of household
 Responds to call bells and resident/patient requests
 Reports any equipment found to be unsafe or broken immediately to supervisor
 Puts Customer Service first: Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a safe, caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights
 Subject to being called in for emergencies

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Five years plumbing experience
• MA Journeyman Plumber License or Master Plumber License
