The Sales Counselor and Professional Relationship Manager is a member of the Hebrew SeniorLife Marketing and Sales team with primary responsible for the rental of assisted living apartments. The Assisted Living Community is an integral component of the NewBridge on the Charles continuum of care. It consists of 51 “traditional” assisted living units and 40 memory support apartments. The goal is to maintain full occupancy at all times.


Through outreach work, s/he builds connections in the community with professionals to drive referrals to our communities and health care business lines. S/he also works closely with the AL Executive Director to create in-reach initiatives that support moves through the NBOC continuum.


The Sales Counselor and HSL Professional Manager also participates in the independent living and HRC-NewBridge sales process as needed.


  • Receive all inquiry calls and respond to requests for information in a timely manner
  • Schedule and conduct tours for prospective residents and their families
  • Maintain regular contact with existing prospects
  • With Fiscal Services, determine financial eligibility; secure final rental commitment from appropriate family members and complete necessary paperwork
  • Coordinate the pre-admission and move-in process with the new resident, the family members, and the appropriate NBOC departments to ensure a smooth transition
  • Maintain a relationship with the resident and family through initial post-admission care plan meeting. Once resident is admitted, the clinical team takes over the relationship.
  • Complete weekly marketing/sales status reports
  • Educate AL staff as to the principles of customer service and the role that each plays—serve as a role model for appropriate customer service
  • Attend in-service training as required and participate in staff training as appropriate
  • Develop and execute a vigorous professional networking outreach program that is representative of all business lines
  • Represent HSL in professional outreach/community presentations
  • Partner with the HRC admissions team and the HCBS Nurse Liaison team on professional networking
  • Maintain knowledge of HSL/NBOC products and services and that of our competitors in order to sell and accurately differentiate our community and portfolio of offerings
  • Have a working knowledge of local resources and services in the Boston area
  • With the Marketing Specialist, create and implement an annual marketing plan
  • Attend bi-weekly Hebrew SeniorLife marketing and sales team meetings
  • Assumes other related tasks as required


  • Minimum BS/BA degree required
  • Minimum of three years experience as a sales professional in the field of senior living and/or dementia services
  • Proven relationship-building skills (listening, understanding, helping to identify appropriate solutions and closing)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficiency in the use of pertinent computer applications including MS Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Full understanding of a “continuum of care”
  • Personality traits that exemplify patience and empathy
  • Some evening/weekend work may be required
