    Full Time - Monday through Friday (40 hours/week)

    10am - 6:30pm

    Seeking a “hands-on” highly motivated person to work in busy kitchen preparing food for residents of senior living complex residents.

    Responsibilities

    A food preparation worker is responsible for performing a variety of food preparation duties besides cooking, such as preparing cold foods and fish, slicing meat, and brewing coffee or tea.   They are also responsible for cleaning work areas, equipment, utensils etc.

    • Will store food in specific containers and storage areas in order to prevent spoilage
    • Prepare a variety of dishes according to supervisors’ instructions and also follow approved procedures
    • Pack take-away foods for residents
    • Places food trays over food warmers for immediate service during meal service, or store them in refrigerators
    • Check supplies and inform supervisor when supplies are getting less or any equipment is not working.
    • Weigh or measure ingredients for the dishes
    • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as required, and provide cooks with needed items
    • Stock shelves and refrigerators as needed
    • After the cooking is over, remove the trash, scraping leftovers from dishes into garbage containers and cleaning them
    • Make special dressings and sauces for sandwiches or dishes like pastas etc
    • Use manual and or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods

    Qualifications

    • Should have good communication skills
    • Must know techniques and how to operate equipment for food preparation
    • Exhibits proper safety & sanitation requirements of equipment & kitchen area
    • Should have at least one year experience in direct food service operation
    • Hands – on experience a must
